Our Staff

Administrative Staff

Becky Welborn: Head of School

When God called me to open a Christian school over 10 years ago, I was humbled. He had been preparing me with a deep love for education and a degree in Business Management from the University of Texas. All He needed was a willing heart. I grew up in this community, and James and I have raised our three boys here, so it is an honor to serve God through training Christ’s ambassadors at DSCA.

Lysbeth Smith: Administrative Assistant

As a life long resident of Dripping Springs, attending preschool through high school graduation here in DS (class of ’99!), I continued on to Southwest Texas State University for my English degree. After marrying my high school sweetheart, Edgar, in 1998, we spent 2 years building our own home next door to my childhood home and the last 2 years doubling that house. We have three daughters and a son, all under the age of 10! My spiritual gifts include serving and administration. As a staff member, board member and parent, I am excited to see what God has planned for DSCA and how I can best use His gifts each day here.

Teaching Staff

Susan Culver: 1st and 2nd Grade Teacher

My husband, Steve, and I moved to Dripping Springs 20 years ago from South Austin.  We raised our 2 sons here and feel part of this growing community.  I have taught mainly at the elementary level, with some high school, as well.  I spent the last 10 years of my teaching working for the Lake Travis ISD.  I feel grateful and blessed to be able to work at DSCA in a Christ-centered environment and share His beautiful message with your children.

Krista Frauenholtz: Bible Teacher

Since becoming a Christian in college, I have had a passion to see others’ lives transformed with God’s love from the inside out (just like mine).  My husband and I served as college pastors at a large university, worked in Real Estate while beginning to raise a family in Chicago.  God brought a spiritual renewal into our lives and we found our hearts reignited to minister the gospel to young people once again.  We started a ministry called Journey61 with the aim to help people ‘recover’ and ‘discover’ who they are in Christ, traveling around the country (and recently the Philippines) working with staff and students of many churches and missions, equipping and inspiring them to live out the kingdom of God wherever they go.  We love mountain biking, rock climbing and exploring this Texas terrain with our four children and are looking forward to the next season that God has for our family.  I love to teach and see young people find their value and purpose in the world.

Kris Maguire: Preschool Teacher

Bio coming soon!

Ed Palmer: Math Teacher

The Lord has blessed our family in so many ways.  I am originally from Del Rio where I met the love of my life, my precious wife, Deb, back in high school.  We have two daughters and four extremely wonderful grandchildren and our expanded family of nieces and nephews adds so much happiness and richness to our life.

I have taught and supported students since 1973 in Austin and Dripping Springs. We moved here to our little bit of heaven on earth in 1981 to build our homes and our family.  While this is my first year teaching at DSCA, I have been so appreciative of the high quality and standards that the school has provided our grand-family.  I am excited to join the DSCA family and am honored and humbled to be part of the staff here.  I hope to help open the beauty of the world of mathematics to our students while providing them tools to use in their future studies.

Lyn Ragan: 5th and 6th Grade Humanities and Latin Teacher

After graduating from Rice University with degrees in Political Science and Psychology, I stayed in the Houston area for several years before moving to Austin.  My husband, Glen, and I have six children, three boys and three girls.  I believe that it is very important to help children develop a mastery of language, writing, and communication, so they are better able to express their Christian faith and convictions.  I am excited to be a part of that training this year at DSCA.

Matt Sager: Government and Economics Teacher

I’ve been blessed with 4 children, three of which have attended DSCA for a number of years.  After graduating with an Associate’s Degree from San Jacinto College in 2005, I met my beautiful bride, Jenna and we have lived in the Austin area ever since.  We have been a part of DSCA for several years and recently the Lord put on my heart to do more.  Teaching young adults the essentials they will need before they graduate into the marketplace is what He is calling me to do.  Training ambassadors is what DSCA is built upon and these young adults are the next generation.  Building them up with the solidest of foundations will set them up to change the world and be reflections of God’s glory in their communities.

Rebecca McCrocklin: Bookkeeper and Photographer

I have been involved with DSCA since the beginning in 2006.  Although I have no formal training in education, and my husband and I have no children of our own, God has called me to minister in a variety of ways to the children of others.  Through my love of the Lord, I am blessed to see your children in a special way and, with photography, capture their tender hearts and joyous spirits throughout the school to share with you.  It is an honor to serve at DSCA.

Cassandra Duiker-Smith: Kindergarten Teacher

My husband, and I have two daughters, Addison and Tinley, and a son, Caylx. I believe children are each unique in their own way, and should learn in a way to exhibit that. I am excited to fulfill the Lord’s plan for my life by teaching your Kindergarten aged children.

Deborah Hammons: Music and Drama Teacher

I love music and drama as an expression of the creativity that God has placed in all of us. It is one of my great joys to share that with my students and to watch their creativity blossom. In creating, singing, making music, and exploring that creativity, we worship Him with our whole being.

Steve Isgitt: 3rd and 4th Grade Teacher

I am a graduate of Texas Tech University, and have been active in church leadership and children’s ministry for many years. This will be my fourth year to teach at DSCA, and I consider it a privilege to build into the hearts and minds of my students from the Word of God, and to prepare them for a lifetime of learning. I am married to Bren, and have two children and four grandchildren. I also serve as Executive Pastor at Hill Country Bible Church Dripping Springs.

Suzanne King: 7-12 Humanities Teacher and Art Teacher

Suzanne King is a local Austin resident who grew up in South Austin and graduated with a BFA and teacher’s certification from UT Austin. She raised her four children in Dripping Springs and still resides here. She has taught art in settings that range from public and private schools to coops and private lessons for thirty years. She has been a member of the staff at DSCA, off and on for the past 10 years.

Art is a continued thread of passion in her life as she is a painter herself and is inspired to teach others the powerful way that the Holy Spirit communicates through the creative process.

Lisa Matthews: PE Teacher

My husband and I have two children and raising them has taught us both so much. I believe that strength, agility, and endurance provide powerful tools for anyone’s faith walk. My mission is to guide children to let their light for God shine by teaching them to be stewards of their own physical fitness so they may experience the adventurous and unique life God has in store for each of them.

Ken Wesloh: Math Teacher

I’ve been blessed to have been working with students since 1954.  The Lord has allowed me to teach the subject content as well as the spiritual from His guidance.  I have taught in various places and in different types of schools in the U.S. and overseas.
